Upcoming Group Classes: Preparing for Childbirth and Newborn Care
Welcome to our upcoming group classes for preparing for childbirth and newborn care, that will be given in Frederick or Bethesda, Maryland. Our comprehensive breastfeeding/newborn care and childbirth classes are designed to provide invaluable knowledge, guidance, and support to women as they embark on their journey into motherhood. By attending these classes together with other expecting parents, you'll have the opportunity to also share experiences and any questions you may have. For those interested, we also offer the option of Personal Classes.
Group Childbirth Class
Four Saturday mornings - Planning coming up Welcome to our comprehensive childbirth class, where we will explore a wide range of essential topics to empower you on your journey to parenthood. In this class, we'll cover essential topics that can help you during pregnancy, labor, and the birth process. The class is based on the experiences of mothers and reputable published research. Gain the knowledge and confidence needed to navigate the transformative experience of childbirth and embrace the joys of early parenthood.
Class topics include:
Nutrition and exercise to support your well-being and the development of your baby
Stages of labor and recognizing the signs that indicate that labor is progressing
Relaxation and comfort measures (breathing, massage, positions) supporting you during labor
Skills and strategies to be a supportive coach/partner throughout the labor process
Variations, common interventions, and unexpected situations and how to navigate these
How to make a birth plan that reflect preferences and desires for your birthing experience
Understanding possible postpartum emotional changes as well as strategies for recovery and self-care during
Guidance on successful breastfeeding techniques and overcoming common challenges.
The cost for this 4-session series is $300 (for you and your partner).
Saturday morning - Planning coming up Welcome to the breastfeeding and newborn class, where we'll cover important topics including newborn expectations, successful breastfeeding techniques, milk storage, common breastfeeding issues, baby communication and sleep patterns, baby care basics, soothing techniques, seeking help, starting breastfeeding/lactation strong, and recognizing newborn warning signs. By the end of this class, you'll be confident in caring for your baby and establishing a successful breastfeeding journey.
Class topics include:
What to expect and what is normal with a newborn
Steps to a successful start to breastfeeding and lactation (techniques for latching and positioning)
Proper methods for storing and handling breastmilk
Common breastfeeding issues (supply, soreness, etc.) and strategies to address them
Recognizing and understanding baby cues, communication, appearances and sleeping patterns
Practical skills for diaper changing, bathing, swaddling, and other essential baby care tasks
Techniques to comfort and sooth your baby
Recognizing signs that point to the need to seek assistance or guidance from healthcare professionals
Newborn warning signs and when to call the pediatrician.
The cost for this class is $150 (for you and your partner).
