We will go the extra mile to provide our clients with the support they need before, during and after birth. Our team and network are there for you!
Prenatal Massage
A prenatal massage may just be what you need when you are suffering with an aching back, tight muscles and other side effects that mothers endure during their pregnancy. Using safe techniques, a massage may help you for soothing dehydrated skin, alleviating lower back pain, exhaustion and swollen hands and feet.
We have a certified pregnancy and prenatal/postpartum massage therapist/doula in our team that would be more than happy to work with you.
Lamaze Classes
Lamaze is based on six health principles drawn from the most recent evidence-based research. They are recommendations to help ease the birthing process and instill confidence. While each birth is different and some may have unique circumstances, all parents can benefit from understanding the options and information available to them.
The six health principles are:
Let labor begin on its own
Walk, move and change positions throughout labor
Bring a loved one, friend or doula for continuous support
Avoid interventions that are not medically necessary
Avoid giving birth on your back and follow your body's urges to push
Keep mother and baby together, its best for the mother, baby and breastfeeding
Interested? We are more than happy to provide you with Lamaze classes.
"Letting your body go into labor spontaneously is almost always the best way to know that your baby is ready to be born and that your body is ready for labor."
Breastfeeding and Lactation Support
Our birth and postpartum doulas can help you with questions and challenges you have with breastfeeding. They can help with basic latch techniques, positioning, breast pumps and encouragement. Postpartum (day and/or night) doulas also make sure you are taken care off, rested and nourished, providing the environment you need to feel comfortable.
If the breastfeeding is really challenging like persistent painful latches and or concerns about the baby's weight gain, we can help you with finding the specialized lactation support you need. A lactation consultant can help with finding the causes that may affect the baby's ability to get a pain-free latch. Based on the diagnosis, a lactation consultant can help you with developing a plan of action to support you in realizing your breastfeeding goals.
The postpartum doula can help with the practical aspects of the plan; for example, if additional pumping sessions need to be added, she can help you sterilize the pumping parts and take care of the baby while you pump. We will help you find the right lactation consultant and support you in realizing the plan you develop with the lactation consultant. One of our doulas is also a Certified Lactation Consultant.
Placenta Encapsulation
Placenta encapsulation is the practice of ingesting the placenta after it has been steamed, dehydrated, ground and placed into pills. Mentioned benefits of postpartum ingestion relate to reduction of postpartum mood disorders, decreasing length of lochia bleeding, and while there is still some discussion in lactation circles, it appears to induce increased and quicker onset of milk production.
